Assignment 13: Partner in My Education

I feel my mentorship is a partner in my education as it has allowed me to get the real life experience I would not have received in a classroom. The knowledge I have received from experience is knowledge most students would not get till maybe junior year of college. I have learned what the atmosphere is like working in a hospital. Along with the amount of team work and communication is necessary to run a hospital. One patient could have a team of ten or more. Therefore I try to help the team and my supervisor by doing the small task such as bringing warm blankets or helping to clean. These simple minimual task help take a little bit of the work load on the team and my supervisor which helps them pay more attention to the patient. The team of employees I work with every single time I go to my mentorship I learn about new jobs in a hospital I did not know about before. For instance I have learned about a respiratory therapist. You can achieve this job by completing a bachelors in respiratory therapy. My people have respiratory problems or conditions; therefore there is a lot of work to be done in the pulmonology field from pharmacist to physician assistants. I had not realized the high numbers of people with these conditions and the high demand for employees in this field. I feel this would be a very interesting specialty to pursue.
